League recap: St. Augustine tops Scripps Ranch to extend winning streak

St. Augustine added to the longest winning streak in Eastern this week by beating Scripps Ranch, 45-10. The win marks fourth in a row for the the Saints.

St. Augustine took down the Falcons 45-10 last week, the largest margin of any game. Joe Joe Hudson threw for 229 yards and 3 touchdowns and ran for 28 yards during the win.

Richard Sanchez's team's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. On the ground Elijah Preston contributed 94 yards. Ethan Sanchez helped St. Augustine's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 50 yards.

He went 9-16 with 0 interceptions.

Ryan Harris was the best receiver in the league this week as the Saints bested Scripps Ranch. Harris tallied 3 receptions for 79 yards. Sanchez helped St. Augustine's passing attack out by catching 2 balls for 50 yards.

St. Augustine's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Saints feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Hudson has thrown for 1,238 yards and 12 touchdowns this season, while Harris has 24 catches for 412 yards.

Fans will be thrilled by an exciting game in the secondary when St. Augustine's Harris goes up against Lincoln's Donell Pleasant.

Preston of the the Saints is just 86 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 120 carries Preston has accumulated 914 yard this year.

Next week's game between St. Augustine and Lincoln will feature a good passing match up as Hudson will test his arm against Pleasant's defensive ability.

As it stands, the Saints are in first, while David Dunn's team is in fifth.

St. Augustine made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 427 from 580. The advance stemmed from a 45-10 victory over Joe Meyer's team last week.
