Basketball Recap: Dobyns-Bennett Indians vs. Columbia Eagles
Dobyns-Bennett was the 80-68 winner over Columbia when they last played one another back in December of 2017, but their luck changed this time around. The Indians took a 59-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eagles on Tuesday.
Columbia had a senior duo take command as Carlin 'CJ' Jacob went 11-for-15 to rack up 24 points and three steals and Deven Nelson shot 63% from the field on his way to 18 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jacob has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Zayd Muhammad, who posted two points along with eight assists and three steals.
Dobyns-Bennett's loss dropped their record down to 12-6. As for Columbia, they pushed their record up to 9-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road.
Coming up, Dobyns-Bennett will take on A.C. Reynolds at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday. The Indians are facing the Rockets at the right time seeing as the Rockets are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Columbia, they have already played their next game, a 60-54 defeat against Calvary Baptist Academy on the 31st.
