Baseball Recap: Cumberland Valley Picks Up Ninth Straight Win at Home

The home team had won the previous three meetings between Cumberland Valley and Altoona, and Cumberland Valley kept the tradition alive. The Eagles were the clear victors by an 11-3 margin over the Mountain Lions on Tuesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matches by six runs or more this season.

Braydon Shuttlesworth tossed a big game, striking out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. Those seven strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

On the hitting side, Eli Bryant was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three doubles, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Kaden Schoenly, who went 2-for-5 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.

Cumberland Valley always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .524. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Altoona only posted an OBP of .364.

Cumberland Valley's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Altoona, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
