Wheaton Academy hasn't had much luck against St. Edward recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Warriors will face off against the Green Wave at 4:30 p.m. Wheaton Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.8 runs per game this season.
St. Edward will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: Wheaton Academy extended their winning streak to three on Friday. The Warriors came out on top against Harvest Christian Academy by a score of 6-2.

Tati Chavez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one double.
In other batting news, Wheaton Academy got a massive performance out of Olivia Stary, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and one stolen base. Moriah Husted also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Wheaton Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .564 or higher in three consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for St. Edward, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Chicago Christian with a sharp 9-2 win on Friday. The Green Wave haven't had any issues with the Knights recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Like Wheaton Academy, St. Edward also got a great game from a two-way player: Alaina Nolan. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Nolan was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
In other batting news, Sarah Gurley and Kendall Pemberton did most of the damage at the plate: Gurley went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs, while Pemberton went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run. That's the most RBI Pemberton has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Taylor Dawson, who went 2-for-4 with one triple and one RBI.
The win got St. Edward back to even at 9-9. As for Wheaton Academy, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Wheaton Academy might still be hurting after the 12-0 loss they got from St. Edward when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
