Volleyball Recap: Wynot Beats Ponca for Their Fifth Straight Win

Wynot waltzed into their match on Thursday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 2-1 W against the Ponca Indians. The Blue Devils have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Indians, too.

Wynot had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next two. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 22-25, 25-22, 27-25.

Wynot's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kenna Oligmueller, who had 19 digs and 17 kills. Oligmueller has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 26 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Haley Wieseler, who had eight digs and two aces.

Despite the loss, Ponca still got an impressive performance from Oliva Taylor, who had 21 digs and five assists.

Wynot's record is now 16-3. As for Ponca, their defeat dropped their record down to 11-14.

Wynot has already played their next contest, a 2-0 win against Cedar Catholic on the 9th. As for Ponca, they will head out to challenge Vermillion at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians are facing the Tanagers at the right time seeing as the Tanagers are stuck on a six-game losing streak.
