Baseball Recap: Centennial Comes Up Short

Centennial lost against Ravenwood back in March of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Centennial Cougars took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Ravenwood Raptors. The game snapped a strange streak: the last four times these teams have met, it?s been the away team that?s taken home the W.

Connor Gray was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and four unearned) runs off three hits. He has become a key player for Centennial: the team is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-3 otherwise.

At the plate, Luke Dennis made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Gant, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Centennial's loss dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Ravenwood, the win keeps them at an undefeated 7-0-1.

While Centennial had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
