Baseball Recap: Forest Wins Going Away Against Lake Weir

Forest's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They put the hurt on the Lake Weir Hurricanes with a sharp 13-3 win. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Wildcats' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.

Daniel Wilson was a standout: he went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, four runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Cushenbery, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

Forest hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive matchups.

The victory snapped Forest's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 6-13 record. As for Lake Weir, their record now sits at 2-14.

Looking ahead, Forest will be taking part in a tournament against Vanguard at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Knights' pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them. Lake Weir will be paying especially close attention to Forest's game: after Forest faces off against Vanguard, they'll take on Lake Weir again at 6:30 p.m. on Monday.
