Whittier Christian beats Santa Rosa Academy for their sixth straight win

The Whittier Christian Heralds had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 42.4 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They blew past Santa Rosa Academy 35-8 at home. The result was nothing new for Whittier Christian, who have now won six matches by 27 points or more so far this season.

Jake Martinez continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 117 yards and two touchdowns, while also picking up 74 receiving yards. Martinez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 58 yards. Caleb Mer was another key contributor, rushing for 28 yards and a touchdown.

Whittier Christian's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for Santa Rosa Academy, their loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 5-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Whittier Christian will take on Maranatha at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Maranatha is on a four-game streak of home wins, Whittier Christian a four-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. As for Santa Rosa Academy, they will head out on the road to face off against Vasquez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Vasquez is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
