Baseball Recap: Alhambra's Run of Six Straight Wins Now Over

After flying high against Rodriguez last Wednesday, Alhambra came back down to earth. Alhambra fell 7-3 to the Novato Hornets on Friday. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Alhambra got a good showing from Keegan Murdock, who tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Those zero hits allowed gave Murdock a new career-low.

On the hitting side, Morgan Tran and Shane Cowperthwaite did some serious damage despite the final result: Tran scored a run and stole two bases, while Cowperthwaite scored a run while going 1-for-3. Justin Martinez also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 7-3. As for Novato, with the win, they broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 5-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Alhambra will square off against Albany at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Alhambra's pitchers better be ready for this one: Albany has averaged an impressive 6.2 runs per game this season. As for Novato, they will take on San Rafael at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
