Basketball Recap: Centennial Falls Despite Big Games from Jalen Bello and Jayden Prosper

Centennial suffered their closest defeat since December 7, 2024 on Monday. They fell just short of the Cypress Bay Lightning by a score of 63-60. If the Eagles were looking for revenge after losing 71-68 to the Lightning when the teams met back in December of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Centennial's loss came despite strong showings from Jayden Prosper and Jalen Bello. Prosper shot 47% from the field on his way to 17 points, while Bello posted 12 points. The matchup was Prosper's third in a row with at least 17 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Lucas Cruzado, who had six points.

Centennial now has a losing record of 1-2. As for Cypress Bay, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Centennial and Stoneman Douglas will face off at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday without much rest, having both just played. As for Cypress Bay, they will head out on the road to take on Flanagan at 7:30 p.m. on December 2.
