Mullins extends home winning streak to 15

Recap: Mullins Auctioneers vs. Kingstree Blazers

The Mullins Auctioneers waltzed into their game on Friday with five straight wins but they left with six. They walked away with an 82-70 victory over Kingstree. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.

Mullins was led to victory by Deyon Ford and JJ Davis. Ford scored 26 points along with five assists and four steals, while Davis scored 32 points along with six steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Davis has scored at least a third of Mullins' points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Hughes, who scored 11 points along with two blocks.

Kingstree lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Adarius Hilton, who scored 17 points. Micheal Kelly was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.

Mullins pushed their record up to 15-5 with that victory, which was their 15th straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 79.5 points per game. As for Kingstree, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-5.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mullins won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conway at 5:30 p.m. on January 20th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in South Carolina (Conway is ranked 72nd, while Mullins is ranked 84th). As for Kingstree, they will head out on the road to challenge Lee Central at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lee Central and Kingstree are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
