Basketball Recap: Vista Del Lago Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Kelsey Brooks and Callie Jacobosky

Vista del Lago was the 52-35 winner over Monterey Trail when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Vista del Lago Eagles took a 50-34 bruising from the Monterey Trail Mustangs on Wednesday. The game was a 19-19 toss-up at halftime, but the Eagles couldn't quite close it out.

Callie Jacobosky and Kelsey Brooks certainly did their best on Wednesday to avoid the loss. Jacobosky almost dropped a double-double with nine points and 16 rebounds, while Brooks almost dropped a double-double with 14 points and nine boards. Those nine boards gave Brooks a new career-high.

Monterey Trail's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Keilani Heringer led the charge by putting up 12 points. Thanks to that strong game, Heringer now owns an excellent 45.3% field goal percentage. Another player making a difference was Alayh Leali, who posted eight points.

Vista del Lago's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 10-14. As for Monterey Trail, they are on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.

Vista del Lago has already played their next match, a 47-42 defeat against Ponderosa on the 11th. As for Monterey Trail, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 49-29 victory against Cosumnes Oaks on the 7th.
