Basketball Recap: Riverview Sarasota Starts Season with Victory at Home

Riverview Sarasota gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 70-52 victory over the Southeast Seminoles. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Rams also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2024.

Leading Riverview Sarasota to victory were Josh Harris and Carter Evans. Harris went 12-for-26 on his way to 35 points, while Evans dropped a double-double with 20 points and 14 boards. Harris' big performance that evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 16 points. Matt Chau was another key player, putting up eight points.

When it comes to explaining why Southeast lost, don't look at Tavares Powell. Despite the final result, he posted 14 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sajae Andrews, who scored eight points.

Riverview Sarasota wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, an 84-75 defeat against Gateway Charter on the 19th. As for Southeast, they have also already played their next contest, a 71-26 loss against Braden River on the 18th.
