Preview: Tupper Lake Lumberjacks vs. Chateaugay Bulldogs
Tupper Lake has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will face off against the Chateaugay Bulldogs at 7:15 p.m. on Monday. Tupper Lake knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Chateaugay likes a good challenge.
Tupper Lake has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 28 points or more this season. They took their contest at home on Saturday with ease, bagging a 80-35 victory over St. Regis Falls. That 80-35 margin sets a new team best for Tupper Lake this season.
Michael Corneau and Thomas Peterson were among the main playmakers for Tupper Lake as the former went 6 for 11 from beyond the arc en route to 26 points and 1 assists and the latter dropped a double-double on 26 points and ten assists. The game was Peterson's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Garrett Pelkey, who scored seven points along with eight rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Chateaugay didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Brushton-Moira last Friday, but they still walked away with a 46-42 win. The victory was just what Chateaugay needed coming off of a 64-28 defeat in their prior game.
Tupper Lake's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-0. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 24.17 points. As for Chateaugay, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Tupper Lake came up short against Chateaugay when the teams last played back in February, falling 58-53. Can Tupper Lake avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
