Recap: Acalanes Dons vs. Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles

The Acalanes Dons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They suffered a tough 69-47 loss at the hands of Clayton Valley Charter. While losing is never fun, Acalanes can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 451st, while Clayton Valley Charter is ranked 82nd).

Several Dons players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Cameron Hood, who scored 14 points. Hood continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Liam Krackeler was another key contributor, scoring eight points.

Leading Clayton Valley Charter to victory were Elijah Perryman and James Moore. Perryman scored 18 points along with five assists and three steals, while Moore scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which Perryman has scored at least 25% of Clayton Valley Charter's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Vince Ellis, who scored nine points.

Acalanes has been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season. As for Clayton Valley Charter, their victory was their fourth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-4.

Acalanes will face off against Benicia at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Clayton Valley Charter, they will be playing at home against Campolindo at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Campolindo has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 266 points over their last four matches.
