Baseball Game Preview: LeRoy Panthers vs. Cornerstone Christian Cyclones

The LeRoy Panthers will face off against the Cornerstone Christian Cyclones at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. LeRoy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

LeRoy took a 12-run defeat the last time they faced off against Fieldcrest, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Panthers had just enough and edged out the Knights 10-8. While the Panthers didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-18), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

Braeden Fox was a major factor no matter where he played. He tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Fox was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with four RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, LeRoy let Bo Zeleznik and Kobe Brent run wild. Zeleznik scored two runs while going 3-for-4, while Brent scored two runs while going 3-for-5. LeRoy is undefeated when Brent posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise.

LeRoy kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, Cornerstone Christian was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They lost 16-0 to Olympia. The contest marked the first time this season in which the Cyclones were not able to get on the board.

Cornerstone Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for LeRoy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-3.

Everything went LeRoy's way against Cornerstone Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, as LeRoy made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Cyclones have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
