After a string of four wins, Wakeland's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They took a 59-55 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Summer Creek Bulldogs. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Wolverines came into the match with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 23rd, while the Bulldogs are ranked 129th).

Wakeland's defeat dropped their record down to 17-4. As for Summer Creek, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 11-9.

Wakeland will face off against Creekview at 11:45 a.m. on January 3, 2025. One thing working in Wakeland's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for Summer Creek, they will take on Boswell in a tournament on Thursday. Boswell will roll in looking for their tenth straight victory, something Summer Creek surely won't give up without a fight.
