Softball Recap: Pleasant Grove Turns Things Around After Road Loss

There's no place like home for Pleasant Grove, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Monday. They never let the Franklin Wildcats get on the board and left with a 9-0 win on Wednesday. The Eagles might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four contests by seven runs or more this season.

Madeline Lawson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over seven innings pitched. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one home run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Shealynn Stinson, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. Lila Rooney also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Pleasant Grove lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Pleasant Grove pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Franklin, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-8-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Pleasant Grove is set to take on their familiar foe Sheldon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Eagles 2.9, the Huskies 2.5) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, Franklin will face off against rival Cosumnes Oaks at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
