Baseball Recap: Winnisquam Find Success

Six must be Winnisquam's lucky number: they beat Gilford with that score not once but twice on Thursday. The Bears beat the Golden Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 6-5. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

John Shea spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. He is becoming a predictor of Winnisquam's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is 2-1 (and 3-6 when he doesn't).

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Carter Lloyd, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI. Jacob Twombly was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Winnisquam's win bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Gilford, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-5.
