Softball Recap: Northfield Gets the Win

Northfield came out on top against Northwestern on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run third inning. The Norsemen took their matchup against the Tigers 7-3. This was payback for the Norsemen, who suffered an 11-1 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Gemma Haupert was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 4.2 innings pitched. Haupert was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Northfield let Tenley Kuhn and Kaylee Dennis run wild. Kuhn went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI, while Dennis went 3-for-4 with two RBI. Carlee Delgado was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Northfield's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-3 and their overall record up to 6-4. As for Northwestern, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 6-7.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Northfield will venture away from home to square off against Lakewood Park Christian at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Northwestern, they will head out to take on Manchester at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
