Football Recap: Dixon Takes Down Rockingham County in a Playoff Battle + How To Watch

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Dixon had no problem doing just that on Friday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over the Rockingham County Cougars. The Bulldogs' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

JJ Gulat had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 429 yards and seven scores while picking up 11.9 yards per carry. Those seven rushing touchdowns gave him a new career-high.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Dixon was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 517 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 329 rushing yards in seven consecutive games.

Luke Strittmatter and James Thomas certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Strittmatter threw for 292 yards and five TDs, while Thomas picked up 201 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Strittmatter also punched in two rushing touchdowns, which is notable because Rockingham County is 4-2 when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-3 otherwise. Malachi Bryant handled things on the ground, rushing for 82 yards.

With the win, Dixon broke their four-game losing streak and moved their record to 6-5. As for Rockingham County, they moved to 5-5 with that defeat, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

As of now, neither Dixon nor the Cougars have any future games scheduled.
