Basketball Recap: Sabino Makes It Eight in a Row at Home

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Sabino). They came out on top against the Sunnyside Blue Devils by a score of 77-65 on Friday. The Sabercats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Blue Devils, too.

Despite the loss, Sunnyside saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maddox Johnson posted 20 points. Jordison Jose was another key player, putting up nine points.

Sabino's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 3-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 80.8 points over those games. As for Sunnyside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-2.

Coming up, Sabino will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against Douglas at 7:00 p.m. As for Sunnyside, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 70-68 defeat against Flowing Wells on the 29th.
