Basketball Recap: Oasis Christian Takes a Loss

Oasis Christian played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They took a blow against the Universal Academy Falcons, falling 78-39. The Lions were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 40-16.

Despite the defeat, Oasis Christian saw an underclassman step up: freshman Jordan Almonte went 8-for-18 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight steals and five boards.

Universal Academy's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Abdullah Sultan led the charge by putting up 16 points. Those 16 points gave Sultan a new career-high. Brendan Brown was another key player, earning 12 points.

Oasis Christian's loss dropped their record down to 0-2. As for Universal Academy, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Oasis Christian and Universal Academy will both get a bit of extra prep time before their next contests. The next time the Lions see the court they'll take on Foundation Christian Academy at 6:30 p.m. on December 2. As for Universal Academy, their break will end when they face Cristo Rey Tampa at 7:30 p.m. on December 1.
