Basketball Recap: Platte Canyon Takes a Loss

If Platte Canyon was riding high fresh off their 54-7 takedown of Clear Creek on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Huskies were dealt a 56-29 defeat at the hands of the Forge Christian Fury on Thursday. The Huskies were down 39-19 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Despite the loss, Platte Canyon still got an impressive performance from Emma Flores, who went 8-for-15 en route to 17 points and three steals.

Forge Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Finley Queen, who shot 42% from the field on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Queen has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maxine Rossi, who went 5-for-10 to rack up 10 points and six boards.

Platte Canyon's record is now 1-1. As for Forge Christian, the victory also got them back to even at 1-1.

Platte Canyon wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 41-30 loss against SkyView Academy on the 6th. As for Forge Christian, they have also already played their next contest, a 76-22 win against Arrupe Jesuit on the 6th.
