Taylor relied on the efforts of Drey Mcclatchey, who went 9 of 14 on his way to 23 points, and Javionne Harris, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 13 boards. With that strong performance, Mcclatchey is now averaging an impressive 15.1 points per game. Christian Hall was another key player, putting up six points and seven steals.
Meanwhile, Riverside waltzed into their contest last Tuesday with nine straight wins... but they left with ten. Everything went their way against the Knights as they made off with a 58-37 victory. The Argonauts have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matchups by 21 points or more this season.
Riverside's win came from a few key players Taylor will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Brayden Torgrimson, who went 7 for 10 en route to 18 points and seven rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Bini Hopper, who posted 11 points and five steals.
Riverside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive games.
Riverside's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.6 points per game. As for Taylor, their record now sits at 12-1.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Taylor has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 34.2 boards per game. However, it's not like Riverside struggles in that department as they've been averaging 29.3 rebounds. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Taylor took their victory against Riverside when the teams last played back in December of 2023 by a conclusive 71-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Taylor since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
