Basketball Recap: Strayhorn Comes Up Short

Strayhorn extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to five on Friday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were outmatched by the Independence Wildcats and fell 85-21. The Mustangs were not able to make up for their defeat to the Wildcats from their previous meeting back in December of 2024.

As for Independence, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 7-1. That 64 point margin sets a new team best for them this season.

Independence's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Kenyon Dowl, who posted 16 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Rontavious Ramsey, who put up 15 points.

Strayhorn will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Hickory Flat at 7:30 p.m. on December 5. As for Independence, they have already played their next contest, a 63-60 win against South Panola on the 24th.
