Football Game Preview: Enfield Eagles vs. South Windsor Bobcats

The Enfield Eagles will head out on the road to face off against the South Windsor Bobcats at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Enfield will be strutting in after a win while South Windsor will be coming in after a defeat.

Enfield barely beat Conard the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Eagles put the hurt on the Red Wolves with a sharp 43-21 victory on Friday. The matchup marked the Eagles' most dominant win of the season.

It was another big night for Sawyer Pequita, who threw for 342 yards and four TDs while completing 86.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 88 yards and one touchdown. His passing game has become a key predictor of Enfield's success: the team is 4-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-3 otherwise. 99 of Pequita's passing yards were hauled in by Cam Trotta, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

Enfield didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Levi Wozny and Travis Rivera.

Meanwhile, South Windsor unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Friday. They lost 34-14 to Glastonbury. The game marked the Bobcats' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Enfield has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 35.8 points over those games. As for South Windsor, their loss dropped their record down to 6-3.

Saturday's contest might be decided on the ground. Enfield has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like South Windsor struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 335.6 rushing yards. There's a good chance Saturday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.

Enfield might still be hurting after the 44-21 defeat they got from South Windsor in their previous matchup back in November of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
