Baseball Recap: Portsmouth Christian Academy Takes a Loss

Concord Christian hit Portsmouth Christian Academy with a five-run second inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Eagles fell just short of the Kingsmen by a score of 10-8. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Kingsmen earlier this season, when they won 11-6.

Cai Summers was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one hit in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. He has become a key player for Portsmouth Christian Academy: the team is 7-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

Summers wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Logan Summers, who went 2-for-3 with two runs.

Portsmouth Christian Academy's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-6. As for Concord Christian, the win snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-5 record.
