Baseball Game Preview: Aptos Mariners vs. Santa Clara Bruins

The Aptos Mariners will be playing at home against the Santa Clara Bruins at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.

For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Aptos and Soquel have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. Aptos fell just short of Soquel by a score of 6-5.

Aptos saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Isaiah Work, who scored a run while going 3-for-3. That's the most hits Work has posted since back in March of 2024. Another was Samuel Garcia, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Santa Clara entered their tilt with Cupertino on Thursday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Pioneers 7-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Bruins have posted since March 1st.

The team relied heavily on Charles Conley, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaxton Chao, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-4.

Santa Clara's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Aptos, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-6.

Aptos came out on top in a nail-biter against Santa Clara in their previous meeting back in April of 2023, sneaking past 1-0. Does Aptos have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Clara turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
