Basketball Recap: Ritchie County Rebels vs. Wahama White Falcons

The Ritchie County Rebels's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fifth straight loss. They fell 73-62 to Wahama. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as Ritchie County came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while the White Falcons are ranked 286th).

Ritchie County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Isaac Hodges, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Hodges has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times he's played. Bodhi Utter was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.

Even though they lost, Ritchie County were working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Ritchie County's loss dropped their record down to 4-10. As for Wahama, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ritchie County will square off against the Titans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Gilmer County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 on Wednesday. As for Wahama, they will head out on the road to challenge the Red Devils at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Ravenswood will be looking to keep their four-game home win streak alive.
