Basketball Recap: Rushville Lions vs. New Palestine Dragons
It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Rushville can now relate to. They took a blow against the New Palestine Dragons on Tuesday, falling 75-31. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Lions of the 70-32 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in December of 2023.

Despite the defeat, Rushville had strong showings from Zy Adams, who shot 45% from the field on his way to 11 points and three steals, and XxZavien Jenkins, who posted ten points and six boards. Jenkins is also on a roll when it comes to field goal percentage, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last three games he's played.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead New Palestine to victory, but perhaps none more so than Julius Gizzi, who went 8-for-16 en route to 20 points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. That's the most steals Gizzi has posted since back in December of 2023. Moses Haynes was another key player, putting up 11 points along with seven assists and five steals.
Rushville's loss dropped their record down to 5-19. As for New Palestine, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-3 record this season.
Rushville does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for New Palestine, they will take on Beech Grove at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. New Palestine knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past 25 games -- so hopefully Beech Grove likes a good challenge.
