Softball Recap: Mountain View Takes a Loss

Mountain View lost against Cienega back in March, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Mountain Lions fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 5-4. Mountain Lions fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Bobcats since on Saturday.

Arianna Figueroa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Mountain View saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Samantha Blasko, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

This is the second loss in a row for Mountain View and nudges their season record down to 20-8. Even worse, they were so close both times: the losses came by an average of only 1.5 runs. As for Cienega, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-7 record this season.

As of now, neither Mountain View nor Cienega have any future games scheduled.
