Preview: Eastern Ramblers vs. McKinley Tech Trainers
The Eastern Ramblers's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the McKinley Tech Trainers at 5:30 p.m. on February 9th. Eastern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Eastern stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Monday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Cardozo 65-4 at home. While fans of Eastern might be used to big wins, the 61-point margin marked the team's biggest win yet this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Eastern to victory, but perhaps none more so than Lanaia Martin, who dropped a triple-double on 23 points, ten rebounds, and 11 steals. Martin has been hot recently, having posted nine or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Samia Greene, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, McKinley Tech faced Banneker in a battle between two of the state's top teams. McKinley Tech had to suffer through a rough 54-12 loss at the hands of Banneker.
Eastern has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season. As for McKinley Tech, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Eastern took a serious blow against McKinley Tech in their previous matchup back in December of 2022, falling 65-12. The contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point Eastern was down 40-2.
