Recap: Ridgeland Panthers vs. Coahulla Creek Colts
The Ridgeland Panthers suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Tuesday. They were dealt a 77-41 loss at the hands of Coahulla Creek. While losing is never fun, Ridgeland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 335th, while Coahulla Creek is ranked 150th).
Despite the loss, Ridgeland still got an impressive performance from John Hill, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 36.6% of Ridgeland's points, marking the sixth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isaac Mitchell was another key contributor, scoring four points.
It was another big night for Chase Ward, who dropped a double-double on 34 points and ten rebounds for Coahulla Creek. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ward has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Gage Voyles, who scored nine points along with nine assists and eight rebounds.
Ridgeland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-6 record this season. As for Coahulla Creek, their victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 12-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ridgeland will take on Southeast Whitfield County at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Southeast Whitfield County has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1. As for Coahulla Creek, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe at 8:30 p.m. on Friday. Lakeview-Fort Oglethorpe is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
