Basketball Game Preview: Hawkins Hawks vs. Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears

The Hawkins Hawks will venture away from home to take on the Port of Los Angeles Polar Bears at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with five consecutive losses for Hawkins and eight for Port of Los Angeles.

On Wednesday, Hawkins took a blow against Jordan, falling 113-13. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1305th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 306th).

Meanwhile, Port of Los Angeles played a tough matchup on Wednesday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 47-12 loss at the hands of Locke. The Polar Bears were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 30-3.

Hawkins' defeat dropped their record down to 2-16. As for Port of Los Angeles, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Hawkins barely slipped by Port of Los Angeles in their previous matchup back in December of 2024, winning 65-64. The rematch might be a little tougher for Hawkins since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
