Basketball Recap: Benedictine Bengals vs. University School Preppers
The Benedictine Bengals lost against the University School Preppers back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Benedictine suffered a rough 77-51 defeat at the hands of the Preppers.
Benedictine's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Damone Darmond, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Bryce Meitin was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Benedictine dropped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.7 points per game. As for University School, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-9.
Benedictine will look to defend their home court on Wednesday against the Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. St. Ignatius knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past 18 matchups -- so hopefully the Bengals like a good challenge. As for University School, they will head out on the road to challenge the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
