Basketball Recap: University City Takes a Loss

University City lost against Mission Bay back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The University City Centurions took a blow against the Mission Bay Buccaneers, falling 81-39. While losing is never fun, the Centurions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 240th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 48th).

Despite the loss, University City still got an impressive performance from Dylan Griffin, who posted 19 points in addition to eight boards and three steals. Griffin's evening made it seven games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mathias Baluyot, who had nine points.

This is the second loss in a row for University City and nudges their season record down to 10-10. As for Mission Bay, their victory bumped their record up to 14-6.

University City wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 74-49 win against La Jolla on the 28th. Mission Bay has also already played their next game, a 50-49 victory against Vista Murrieta on the 25th.
