Recap: Tumwater Thunderbirds vs. Timberline Blazers
The Tumwater Thunderbirds's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell 71-58 to Timberline. Tumwater has not had much luck with Timberline recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Tumwater lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Clay Morgan, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and ten rebounds. Morgan scored a full 31% of Tumwater's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Henry Wilson, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds.
Timberline's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cedric Ragland Jr, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Those 11 rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. Darrell Gipson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Tumwater now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Timberline, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 6-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Tumwater will take on Black Hills at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Black Hills is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games. As for Timberline, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Peninsula at 7:00 p.m. Peninsula will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 232nd, while Timberline is ranked 89th).
