Basketball Recap: Winslow Takes a Loss

Winslow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight defeat. They had to suffer through a 66-38 loss at the hands of the Snowflake Lobos. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 152nd, while the Lobos are ranked 15th).

Kaitlyn Belone and Keira Barton certainly did their best on Tuesday to avoid the loss. Belone posted ten points, while Barton had three points. Natilyn Nez also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

Snowflake was led to victory by Ryah Denhalter and Kenadi Stuart. Denhalter went 7 of 13 on her way to 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals, while Stuart scored 12 points in addition to five assists and five boards. That's the most assists Stuart has posted since back in December of 2023. Nicole Hipps was another key player, putting up ten points.

Winslow's loss dropped their record down to 3-14. As for Snowflake, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-3 record this season.

Winslow has already played their next contest, a 52-34 defeat against Holbrook on the 17th. As for Snowflake, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 48-38 win against Alchesay on the 17th.
