Basketball Recap: Illinois Central Christian Comes Up Short

Illinois Central Christian has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Varsity Opponent on Friday. The Lions were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced Varsity Opponent earlier this season, when they won 67-44.

When it comes to explaining why Illinois Central Christian lost, don't look at Isaac Mervis. Despite the final result, he went 12 of 19 on his way to 32 points in addition to seven boards and four steals. Mervis' evening made it eight games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Judah Moreland, who posted six points and six rebounds.

Illinois Central Christian's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4.
