Football Recap: Eustace Takes a Loss

Eustace extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to 13 on Friday, dropping them down to 0-6. They took a blow against the Mount Vernon Tigers, falling 55-0. The game marked the first time this season in which the Bulldogs were not able to get on the board.

As for Mount Vernon, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-2. Given their advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 416th, while Eustace is ranked 1123rd) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.

Leading Mount Vernon to victory were Cade George and Hunter Carrell. George threw for 240 yards and four touchdowns while completing 93.8% of his passes, while Carrell rushed for 92 yards and a pair of TDs on only seven carries. The dominant performance also gave George a new career-high in passer rating (171.9).

Eustace has already played their next matchup, a 49-7 loss against Winnsboro on the 10th. As for Mount Vernon, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 64-19 victory against Rains on the 10th.
