Basketball Game Preview: Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners vs. Rancho Rams

Southeast Career Tech hasn't had much luck against Rancho recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Southeast Career Tech Roadrunners will take on the Rancho Rams at 6:30 p.m.

Last Monday, Southeast Career Tech opened the new year with a less-than-successful 45-38 defeat to Canyon Springs. The Roadrunners have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Southeast Career Tech saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Ricardo Rodriguez posted 14 points. The dominant performance gave Rodriguez a new career-high in points.

Meanwhile, Rancho entered their tilt with Pinecrest Academy Cadence on Tuesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They blew past the Cougars 77-27. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Rancho pushed their record up to 11-5 with the victory, which was their 14th straight on the road dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.7 points per game. As for Southeast Career Tech, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.

Southeast Career Tech was taken down by Rancho 74-27 in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Thankfully for Southeast Career Tech, R'Zha Whittle (who dropped a double-double on 30 points and ten boards) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
