Baseball Game Preview: Cusick Panthers vs. Oroville Hornets

Cusick hasn't had much luck against Oroville recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Panthers will be playing in front of their home fans against the Hornets at 2:00 p.m. Cusick will aim to continue their three-game streak of scoring more runs each contest than the last.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cusick duked it out with Republic on Tuesday. The Panthers were the clear victors by a 15-4 margin over the Tigers. Considering the Panthers have won seven matchups by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

The team relied heavily on Kaden P, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. David L was another key player, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI.

Cusick always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .769. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Oroville couldn't beat Manson on Tuesday even though they stacked six runs on them in the fourth inning. The Hornets lost 25-9 to the Trojans. The loss was the Hornets' first of the season.

Cusick is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. Having lost for the first time this season, Oroville fell to 6-1-1.

Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Cusick hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. However, it's not like Oroville struggles in that department as they've averaged .464. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
