Volleyball Game Preview: Seneca Fighting Irish vs. Coal City Coalers

After both having extra time off, the Seneca Fighting Irish and the Coal City Coalers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Having struggled with three losses in a row, Seneca turned things around against Lowpoint-Washburn on Tuesday. They walked away with a 2-0 win over the Wildcats.

Seneca easily took the second set, but they let things get interesting in the other. The match finished with set scores of 25-21, 25-15.

Meanwhile, Coal City was able to grind out a solid victory over Yorkville Christian on Wednesday, taking the game 2-0. The win continues a trend for the Coalers in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now won three in a row.

Coal City never let Yorkville Christian on the board, but things got pretty close in the second set. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-22.

The victory got Coal City back to even at 16-16-1. As for Seneca, their win bumped their record up to 23-11.

Seneca was able to grind out a solid victory over Coal City in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 2-0. Do the Fighting Irish have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Coalers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
