Softball Game Preview: West Prairie Cyclones vs. Camp Point Central Panthers

The West Prairie Cyclones will square off against the Camp Point Central Panthers at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. West Prairie comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Illini West hit West Prairie with a four-run third inning on Tuesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Cyclones fell 9-5 to the Chargers.

Meanwhile, Camp Point Central lost 11-5 to Triopia/Meredosia-Chambersburg/Virginia on Tuesday. The Panthers have struggled against the Trojans recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Camp Point Central got a good showing from Allie Hoener, who didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched.

On the hitting side, Camp Point Central saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Emma Stephens, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI. Another was Gwen Huston, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double.

Camp Point Central's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for West Prairie, their loss dropped their record down to 0-5.

West Prairie suffered a grim 13-2 defeat to Camp Point Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Cyclones avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
