Basketball Recap: Hazelwood Central Comes Up Short

Hazelwood Central was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their sixth straight loss. They fell 69-59 to the Marquette Mustangs. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 115th, while the Mustangs are ranked 27th).

Hazelwood Central's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Marquette, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-3 record this season.

Hazelwood Central wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 70-60 victory against Miller Career Academy on the 15th. As for Marquette, they will square off against Pattonville at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Marquette knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 13 games -- so hopefully Pattonville likes a good challenge.
