Basketball Preview: Classical Prep Lions vs. Hernando Christian Academy Lions

The Classical Prep Lions will face off against the Hernando Christian Academy Lions at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Thursday, Classical Prep ended up a good deal behind the Buccaneers and lost 59-44. Classical Prep has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the loss, Classical Prep had strong showings from Kaelyn Malloy, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and two steals, and Mia Milanes, who almost dropped a triple-double on ten points, 12 rebounds, and nine steals. That was a full 45.5% of Classical Prep's points, marking the 11th time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.

Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 65-18, which was the final score in Hernando Christian Academy's tilt against the Mustangs on Friday. While losing is never fun, Hernando Christian Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 554th, while the Mustangs are ranked 189th).

Classical Prep has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-8 record this season. As for Hernando Christian Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-13.

Classical Prep was able to grind out a solid win over the Lions in their previous meeting back in January, winning 44-32. The rematch might be a little tougher for Classical Prep since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
