Recap: Rocky River Ravens vs. Garinger Wildcats
The Rocky River Ravens won the last time they faced the Garinger Wildcats, and things went their way on Friday too. Rocky River enjoyed a cozy 60-44 win over Garinger. Given Rocky River's advantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 192nd, while Garinger is ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Markiest Houston continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 16 points along with six rebounds and two steals. He is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 17 games he's played. Jayden Ross was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
When it comes to explaining why Garinger lost, one person who can't be blamed is Rae Bennett. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Rocky River's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-10. As for Garinger, their defeat was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-14.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rocky River will square off against East Mecklenburg at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully East Mecklenburg focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Garinger, they will head out on the road to take on Providence at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
