Baseball Game Preview: Novato Hornets vs. Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons

The Novato Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Archie Williams Peregrine Falcons at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Novato's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Archie Williams' hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Novato took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They never let Archie Williams get on the board and left with a 5-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Peregrine Falcons: they've now won five in a row.

Griffin Vorhaus was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run while striking out nine over seven innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Novato is undefeated when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3 otherwise. Vorhaus was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 2-for-2. That's the most hits he has posted since back in April of 2024.

Vorhaus wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Gio Castaing, who went 1-for-3 with one double and one RBI. Scott Rios also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Archie Williams' loss dropped their record down to 1-4. As for Novato, their victory was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 3-3.
