Football Recap: Bristow Piles Up the Points Against Mcloud

Bristow's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 48-14 victory over the McLoud Redskins. The game was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.

Bristow was led to victory by Promised Johnson and Shane Bethel. Johnson rushed for 89 yards and one touchdown on only nine carries, while Bethel rushed for 111 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Johnson's passing game has become a key predictor of the Pirates' success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-4 otherwise.

McLoud's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Leroy Thomas, who rushed for 160 yards and one TD while picking up 8.4 yards per carry, and Sabir Perry Jr., who picked up 77 receiving yards and one score. Thomas was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards.

Bristow moved to 3-5 with that win, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for McLoud, they are on a 14-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Coming up, Bristow will challenge Perkins-Tryon at 7:00 p.m. on the 31st. The Pirates' defense better be ready for this one: the Demons have averaged an impressive 30 points per game this season. As for McLoud, they will look to defend their home field on the 31st against Lone Grove at 7:00 p.m.
